Michigan Social Studies Olympiad XXVII

OVERVIEW

The Michigan Council for the Social Studies Olympiad is a state-wide competition for students in grades fourth through twelfth. The goals and objectives of the competition is to increase student and teacher interest in the education of social studies, to offer contests that lead to improvements in social studies curriculum and facilitate instructional practices that provide opportunities for students and teachers to gain individual and team recognition for academic accomplishments. This event encourages the educational development of a strong social studies skill set, participatory experience, social and intellectual interactions, and strengthens personal confidence by asking students to plan activities as a group and to cooperate with as an ensemble.
