Digital StoryBook Competition 2010

The Storybook Competition for 2010 is open!
The Michigan Council for the Social Studies is pleased to announce the Digital Storybook Competition 2010. We would like to invite you and your students to participate in this exciting learning experience. The competition will provide students and teachers in Michigan an opportunity to develop and produce storybooks designed to enhance learning, not only for those producing the story, but for students all across the state for whom the stories will be available.
Entries will automatically be entered in a competition for awards and recognition. All storybooks that meet the contest specifications will be posted on iTunesU and hosted on the MCSS website.
Successful applications must meet all of the following basic criteria:

Length: Minimum of 3 minutes, Maximum of 7 minutes

Format: MP4 (must be compatible with iTunesU format) Project must be created using a movie program similar to Apple iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, or equivalent

Subject: Must be based on GLCE's or HSCE's with basis on Michigan Studies. Applications and video must identify the specific GLCE/HSCE addressed by the storybook, and specifically identify the grade level audience the storybook targets. All sources must be cited appropriately.

Author: The Storybook must be primarily student produced with minimal teacher assistance.

Entry Fee: If the teacher applying for the project award is a member of MCSS there is no entry fee. If the teacher is not a member of MCSS, there will be a $50 entry fee due at the time of project submission.
Awards will be granted in each category with the following places awarded**:
1st place = $2,000
2nd place = $1,250
3rd place = $750
Honorable Mention = $500

**Important Note: Entrance into the competition does not guarantee a monetary award even if it is the sole Digital Storybook entered in that category.
